The Breaks Interstate Park, KY/VA
If you have climbed at the Red River Gorge and want to check out another close-by climbing location then The Breaks is a great change of scenery. The Breaks Interstate Park is a deep gorge cut by the Russel Fork River that has 100-foot sandstone cliffs offering single pitch sport or trad climbing. The Breaks is located near Pikeville, KY, approximately 2 hours east of the Red River Gorge.
Climbing at the breaks just opened in 2015, so routes are still developing. Currently the Breaks has a very “adventurous” feel as routes are often seldom climbed and may have dirt/debris still on the rock. However, The Breaks has amazing scenery and will continue to become a more popular climbing area as the cliffs get developed. Presently Southeast Mountain Guides is the only guide service for this location.
This trip is best suited for participants with some climbing experience. It is recommended that you are able to belay, retrieve equipment, and climb 5.6-5.7. The recommended age for this trip is 12 years or older. Participants are responsible for their own transportation, lodging and food for the entire trip.
All PRICING IS PER PARTICIPANT. A full day is up to 8 hours.
