Justin Poe

Hello, I’m Poe! I was born and raised in Bowling Green, KY. I went to the University of Kentucky starting in 2013 where I studied Computer Science. I had wanted to be a programmer from a young age. That changed soon after as I found a new passion in the form of Rock Climbing. About halfway through my college career, a friend invited me to the university’s climbing wall. After just the first day, I was hooked. I quickly made friends among the climbing wall staff, and found mentorship.

After I became a more experienced climber, I began to teach and mentor my friends. That grew into a passion for teaching in the climbing space. I began to hone my skills as a climber and teacher working at an indoor climbing gym. That eventually led to moving into the outdoor space where I continue to grow and work to someday become a full AMGA Rock Guide.

While I’m out here in the Red River Gorge, I spend my time either continuing my education as a climbing professional, or working on my van that I’ve been progressively converting for travel and living. I also like to search for four-leaf clovers. Since I began looking at the end of college, I’ve found over 5000, with a collection that grows every day.
